press CTRL+G and go to line 670
replace "oclist" with "dism"
save and close Networking.ps1
Launch Start_Coreconfig.wsf per original instructions
check the network tab working correctly

The feeling I got from some Internet searches is that this project is dead, although nothing official. I have reworked the script files so that they work on 2012 and started a new CodePlex project: http://corefig.codeplex.com. I just today found these discussion threads and may start to address the problems people had with Core Configurator 2.0, depending on my available time and community interest levels. Roles and Features should be working in mine and the Networking pages definitely work. DCPROMO doesn't work because DCPROMO is gone in 2012. I just disabled the button in my edition. I'm tentatively considering adding the functionality for ADDS installation.

I've been playing with this today. Couple things I've tweaked so far:

Open Start_Coreconfig.wsf with Notepad (or whatever)
Go to line 266 (in Notepad, use Ctrl-G to go there quickly)... Replace "oclist" with "dism"
Go to line 292, replace "oclist" with "dism"
Save and close Start_Coreconfig.wsf
Open CoreConfig.ps1 with Notepad (or whatever)
Go to line 1017, replace "oclist" with "dism"
Save and close CoreConfig.ps1
Open Roles.ps1 with Notepad (or whatever)
Go to line 366, replace "oclist" with "dism"
Go to line 500, replace "oclist" with "dism"
Go to line 532, replace "oclist" with "dism"
Save and close Roles.ps1
Launch Start_Coreconfig.wsf per original instructions

I'm sure there's other stuff that will crop up as options are used, but this should get you up and running.

I've installed NET-Framework-Core using powershell Install-WindowsFeature, then I've launched ControlPanel.ps1 from CoreConfigurator folder. Microsoft removed some utilities from 2008-r2 and 2012 (for example the command oclist). Maybe the functionalities are limited but you'll be able to configure most of the core server (firewall, autoupdate, and so on).

I tried it on 2012, but all I saw was a window popup and close imediately after (so quickly that I wasn't sure what it was). I was unable to get it running on 2012. That being said, I don't know powershell, or much about the application other than running it. Someone who knows more might be able to get it working.
I resorted to setting up a Windows 8 machine and installing RSAT, which allowed me to do the management I needed.

The problem is related to the German/Non English language version of Windows Server. The code parses the output of the commandline tool "oclist" - it is looking specifically for English strings.

I made up a hacked version in which I replaced the English strings. It's not very elegant and definitively not tested well. I only checked the role dialog (the functionality I missed most) and activated the server. The hacked version is for German. But you could just as easily make a version for your own language. Replace the variables I added to the code ($notInstalledString for example).

Another solution you could try is installing a MUI language pack and switching to English language output. I did not succeed in installing the pack on Server core though (did not try very hard).

The issue I have is everytime I click a button I have to select either D - don't run, R - run, or S - suspend

It runs as if it is set to restricted but the exceution policy was set by me to remotesigned and changed to unrestricted by this script. It should ask me about running scripts at all.

Guys good afternoon.

I Have a server core based on Windows Server 2008 PT-BR.
I install the framework 2 and powershell.
After this it, I imput the command line: start_coreconfig.wsf

When I click on the Add Roles and Features option, nothing appears to me.
How should I proceed? Where am I wrong?

maybe you are using a non english verison of 2008 server ?

line 508, for instance, works fine with english version :

if ($myoutputline.Contains("Not Installed"))

in french version this line should be :

if ($myoutputline.Contains("Non installé")) to work properly.

Same thing for few others lines in Roles.ps1 file.

What happened in my case...just for grins, I decided to enable remote management so I selected Option 4 in sconfig and then option 3 which would not run becasue it thought PowerShell was not installed, which it was becasue trying to run Core Configurator took care of that. So, I selected option 2 to enable PowerShell but all that happened was a quick command window pop-up and the Remote Signed execution policy was set and that was it. After that Core Configurator worked fine.

Hi Guys,

Ok so it looks like we have an issue with SP1, from the above discussions it looks like an issue with the execution policy;

Chuck you mentioned that you set the execution policy to 'remote signed' and Core Configurator ran succesfully!

Does anyone have more information around how they fixed it for their enviroment, I'm going to have a look at the code tonight and try and get a fix ASAP.

Don't wanna go too offtopic here .... I know about that doc. The point is that even if you enable remote access to pnp, that will still only give you read-only access to device manager.
