Please add a remark regarding unsupported languages of Windows Server. As of now, the tool will work only partially with German installations, for example.

Thanks for guide, "Core Configurator 2.0" is the best solution for Windows Server 2008 Configuration :)

If you must use on a virtualized server, create an ISO image and then map this ISO to the virtual CD/DVD reader. And you must install the vm tools before using code configurator to have the correct network NIC installed.

Extract files from CoreConfig.zip on other machine type

1.Copy CoreConfig.cab file to folder location of your choice
2.Double Click zip file
3.Select all files and right click and select extract
4.Select Destination and extract.

How to run CoreConfigurator on Server Core

1.If extract was done on a machine other than Server Core >> Copy All script files to a USB pen drive | Map a Network Drive to the file location
2.CD to the directory and run "Start_CoreConfig.wsf"
3.Menu option will appear

Core Configurator 2.0 (x64)

We are pleased to announce the latest version of Core Configurator built and designed for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Core edition!

It is completely open source so it can be amended and change to fit your requirements, this version has been a year in the making and has been written in powershell with a reference to Winforms so that a GUI format is displayed.

The primary focus of this project is to try and get feedback and contributions back from the community to make this a tool the best/ free tool everyone will want in there toolkit, so if you have some code or features that you might want included then please leave a comment and we will get in touch.

Core Configuration tasks include:

Product Licensing
Networking Features
DCPromo Tool
ISCSI Settings
Server Roles and Features
User and Group Permissions
Share Creation and Deletion
Dynamic Firewall settings
Display | Screensaver Settings
Add & Remove Drivers
Proxy settings
Windows Updates (Including WSUS)
Multipath I/O
Hyper-V including virtual machine thumbnails
JoinDomain and Computer rename

A Bug has been discovered where if you extract to a directory which contain a <space> the application fails to start (i.e C:\Core Configurator), to resolve this issue please remove the <space> from the directory name (i.e C:\CoreConfigurator). This bug is currently being fixed by the CoreConfigTeam..
